Bauchi to Spend N500m on Dev’t Projects

In its efforts to provide democracy dividends to the electorate, the Bauchi State Government has approved the execution of some projects in parts of the state.
The projects approved by the state executive council at its regular meeting Monday include the rehabilitation of some damaged electricity high-tension line along Misau – Giade road axis and the provision of electricity supply to some villages along the line at a total cost of N161,591,407.19k.
The Special Adviser to the state governor on Media and Strategy, Ali Mohammed Ali, disclosed that the council also approved the sum of N114,183,384 for the electrification of Sha’iska, Yelwan Bango and Pali villages in the state.
He further revealed that the sum of N119, 395, 271.65k was similarly approved for the electrification of Jalingo, Yala, Yola and Masuri villages in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
Ali also disclosed that the government desirous of entrenching a culture of accountability and transparency, as well as improving the quality of service delivery in its workforce, approved the review of six regulatory books which were last reviewed in 2001, attributable to human nature which is dynamic.
“Also approved by the council is the review of 2006 policy on disposal of official vehicles in the state”, he said, pointing out that government vehicles were in the “past disposed at ridiculous rates, at the discretion of the man at the top, without determining the years of their usage.”
The special adviser further disclosed that the council approved the renaming of the College of Education, Kangere to ‘Ajiya Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education’ in recognition of the late politician’s socio-economic and political contributions to the growth and development of Bauchi State.
In the same vein, Ali said the council approved the completion of a two-storey building and two staff quarters at the former Bauchi State School of Administrative Studies (BACAS) for medical students of the state’s medical college at a total cost of N148, 566, 439.50k.
